Blown Glass Pumpkin was made by glass artists Faerie Fleur, Assisted by Simon. Tamborine Mountain Queensland Australia

Hand-crafted, mouth blown from molten glass. Each Blown Glass Pumpkin is completely unique from the next. From 1100 degrees centigrade, where the molten glass sits, until we conjure it out, & onto our pipe. Adding color, shaping and blowing, tooling. Reheating the glass all the while, thrusting it into the intense flame. When the Pumpkin is nearly ready, the assistant will get a separate gather of molten glass and coat it with green frit. (coloured glass) Once the desired shape is reached, we “knock it off” by Torching the break-off area and add the Pumpkins’ spring to finish.

These last few steps can get pretty hectic; however, it is the exhilaration, and gamble of the possibility of your piece experiencing thermal shock before the pumpkin is put away to relax in 520-degree Celsius heat. The annealing process takes a further 12 hours. Each piece is lovingly created to be as unique as you.  Do you want to know a little secret? Once you have tried glassblowing for yourself, you will see the magic that comes together in the moments of making your own piece. It really is exhilarating when you finish a piece and “get to put it away”.
