When you flick the switch, you have created a portal on the tiles! A purple mandala – A purple stargate… A fabulous addition to your sacred space, with the beautiful purple mandala transmuting harmony to the room.
Amethyst Mandala Pendant Light is handcrafted and mouth-blown from molten glass. We gather the molten glass from 1100 degrees centigrade, where it sits, then it’s conjured out onto our pipe—adding color, shaping and blowing, tooling—reheating the glass all the while thrusting it into the intense flame. Before adding a wrap, a second gathering is needed to ensure a good size, which is also shaped and blown.
This is an enjoyable technique to use, followed by using the optic mold. The mold isn’t for shaping. It is to cut the glass and therefore make a pattern. Once the desired shape is reached, we “puntie up”, to open our vessel and shape it before we “knock it off” and flame polish it to finish. Then the glass pendant light is put away to relax in 520 degrees Celsius heat- called the annealing process, which takes 12 hours. Each pendant piece is lovingly created to be as unique as you. A great big size, making it perfect for the Christmas table.
Amethyst Mandala Pendant Light was made by glass artists James Alexander and Faerie Fleur in Tamborine Mountain. We love blowing glass and take great pride in creating such works for you. Do you want to know a little secret? Once you have tried glassblowing for yourself, you will see the magic that comes together in the moments of making your piece. It is exhilarating to finish a bit and “get to put it away.”

I was gifted a glass blowing course for my birthday and it was the best present EVER! Faerie is a wonderful teacher. She is incredibly talented and generous when sharing her knowledge. Faerie is also incredibly patient and kind. I highly recommend this experience to anyone looking to have a wonderful few hours, learning an awesome art from an awesome person.
Wow! What an experience! From the heat of the oven to it's final form my inner artist revelled in creating 3 beautiful glass masterpieces (in the eye of the beholder). Faerie has a wealth of experience and easy going teaching style to guide you step by step through the process. In my case, she also had to step in and "save the day" a few times which she did graciously and effortlessly. Thank you for a wonderful afternoon of fun, learning and creating! We will be back.
